WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER REMOVER TREATMENT IMMEDIATE EFFECTS (FIRST FEW HOURS):

• The treated area will be covered with a bandage or protective dressing.

• You may experience a burning or stinging sensation for several hours – this is normal.

Redness, swelling, and tenderness around the treatment site are expected.

DAYS 1–3:

• Swelling and inflammation will peak during this period.

• The area may weep clear or slightly colored fluid (lymph) – this is a normal part of the healing process.

A scab or crust will begin to form over the treated area.

• Discomfort should gradually decrease after the first 48 hours.

DAYS 4–14:

• The scab will thicken and harden. Important: Do not pick, scratch, or forcibly remove the scab. Allow it to fall off naturally to prevent scarring and infection.

• Pigment will lift out with the scab as it sheds.

• Itching is common during this phase – resist the urge to scratch.

• The treated area may appear lighter or have a temporary “halo” effect as pigment is extracted.

WEEKS 2–8:

• Once the scab has completely fallen off, the skin underneath may appear pink or lighter in color.

• Pigment fading will continue as your skin regenerates.

Full healing and final results are typically visible 6–8 weeks post-treatment.

• Multiple sessions (usually 1–3) spaced 8–12 weeks apart may be required depending on pigment depth and desired results.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST 24 HOURS:

• Keep the initial bandage on for at least 2–3 hours or as directed by your technician.

• After removing the bandage, gently cleanse the area with sterile saline solution or cooled boiled water and a clean cotton pad. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

• Apply a thick layer of the prescribed healing ointment (such as Aquaphor or a vitamin-based ointment) to keep the area moist and protected.

• Reapply ointment every 2–3 hours or whenever the area feels dry.

Do not allow the treated area to dry out or form a hard scab too quickly.

DAYS 2–14 (SCABBING PHASE):

• Cleanse the area gently 2–3 times daily using sterile saline solution or mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry thoroughly.

• Continue applying a generous layer of healing
ointment 3–4 times daily to maintain moisture.

Do not pick, peel, or scratch the scab. Let it fall off naturally.

Avoid any trauma or friction to the treated area.

• Sleep on a clean towel or pillowcase to avoid staining your bedding.

AFTER SCAB FALLS OFF (DAYS 14+):

• Once the scab has completely shed, you may switch to a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer if desired.

• Continue keeping the area well-moisturized for optimal healing.

• Begin applying SPF 50+ sunscreen daily to protect the healing skin and prevent hyperpigmentation.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS (UNTIL FULLY HEALED):

• Avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area. Wear protective clothing or apply SPF 50+ once the skin is closed.

Do not use tanning beds or apply self-tanners to the area.

• Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs,
saunas, steam rooms, and bodies of water (lakes, oceans) for at least 4 weeks to prevent
infection.

• Refrain from strenuous exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating for
at least 1 week.

• Do not apply makeup, perfumes, or other cosmetics to the treated area
until the scab has completely fallen off and the skin is healed.

Do not shave, wax, or use
hair removal products on the treated area until fully healed.

• Avoid facial treatments
(facials, peels, microneedling, etc.) near the treated area for at least 4 weeks.

SIGNS TO WATCH FOR:

• Contact your technician or healthcare provider immediately if you experience:

• Increasing pain, redness, or swelling after 72 hours

Yellow or green discharge (pus)

Foul odor from the treated area

Fever or chills

Red streaks extending from the treatment
site

• Excessive bleeding or oozing

TREATMENT SESSIONS

• Remover (chemical) removal is typically faster than laser removal but requires careful aftercare due to the nature of the healing process.

• Sessions are spaced 8–12 weeks apart to allow complete healing and skin regeneration.

• Most clients require 1–3 sessions depending on pigment depth, density, and desired outcome.

• Remover can be more effective for certain colors (especially stubborn colors that don’t respond well to laser) and can work on all skin tones.

• Some residual pigment or slight scarring may occur, but proper aftercare significantly reduces these risks.
